The place where the images used by Google users are stored is the Album Archive, which will cease to exist until July 2023.

Through this service, the user can access media from:

  • Profile pictures;
  • Hangouts attachments;
  • Blogger Media;
  • And several others.

The Google Album Archives service is to be discontinued effective July 19, 2023.

Therefore, all users who wish to save their photos must download them before this date of exclusion from the service.

Users are being informed by the company via email, being instructed to save their media safely.

So, accessing the Google Takeout, you can download all the media you want.

More ways to save content

In addition to Google Takeout, the user can access each service individually to download the appropriate media:

  • blogger: published images;
  • google account: profile pictures;
  • Google Photos: photo albums;
  • Hangouts: Attachments sent in Hangouts.

Hangouts, it is important to remember, has been replaced by the Chat service, so newer media may be saved in Google's new tool.

Images used to customize Gmail themes are still saved in the Album Archive.

We emphasize, for the avoidance of doubt, that Google Photos will not be deleted and neither will the photos contained in this service.
