So, if the user wants to change their app account to a new device, they must authorize the transfer via their old cell phone.

The measure also helps the user to identify if someone is trying to steal their account. Thus, if the user does not give authorization, the transfer action is interrupted.

Such a transfer check happens like this:

  • The WhatsApp application shows, on the old cell phone, a notification for the user to authorize the account transfer;
  • In this notification, information is also shown, which includes the model of the new cell phone to which the account will go;
  • The user is also informed that the account will be removed from the old cell phone after the transfer has been made.

This security measure will help prevent possible account thefts and scams.

It is also very useful for protecting the accounts of users who, for some reason, have shared an application verification code.

What if the cell phone is stolen?

If your cell phone is stolen or stolen, it will be possible to request a new password from the WhatsApp application, which must be for single use.

The measure is also used in cases of damage or loss of a cell phone or tablet, where the user will not be able to access the device.

Then, the user can use the one-time password to recover their account and transfer it to a new cell phone.
